Nebraska Democratic Party so hard up it decides to go Jane Fonda-bashing — in 2012. Seriously.

Because resuscitating 60s domestic discord over Vietnam will help defeat Deb Fischer because she once voted for a tax bill that benefited Ted Turner, who owns a big ranch in the Sandhills and used to be married to Fonda, even though she has never lived in the state, except for some summers spent in Omaha with her aunt.
     In the 50s.
     Or something.
Fischer's record regarding property taxes is especially appalling. In 2007, Fischer voted for a bill that gave property tax credits to landowners as opposed to a credit that would benefit homeowners. The biggest beneficiary of this property tax plan was Ted Turner - the ex-husband of "Hanoi" Jane Fonda, a billionaire, and one of the state's largest landowners - who receives a yearly tax cut of nearly $100,000.
Oh, one more thing. Jane Fonda isn't a billionaire and never was. Neither is Ted Turner, any longer, after giving away hundreds of millions of dollars.
Way to pander, Nebraska Democrats. Maybe, after the election, Karl Rove will give you the Mean Jean Strothert Imitation-is-the-sincerest-form-of-flattery Humanitarian Award, good sport that he is.
Incidentally, the second biggest landowner in the Cornhusker State, after Ted Turner, is the Mormon Church.
