Santa insanely generous to tech companies; 6.8 million tablets and smart phones activated Christmas Day

USA TODAY reports that almost 7 million new tablets and smartphones using Apple's iOS or Google's Android — got turned on Christmas Day, according to Flurry Analytics, a firm that analyzes smartphone and app activity.
That's more than double last year's Christmas Day sales, when 2.8 million devices were activated.
Forrester Research estimates Apple sold 8 million iPads to U.S. consumers this quarter, while Amazon sold 5 million Kindle Fires.
Andy Rubin, Google's senior vice president in charge of Android, tweeted this week that 3.7 million Android devices were activated on either Christmas Eve or Christmas Day vs. 700,000 on Dec. 20.
