After a stint in the military and 30 years at the phone company, Patricia "Big Mama" Barron, started what has become the city's best-known soul food restaurant, where she and her manager/daughter Gladys serve delicacies including [pig] ear sandwiches at the converted kitchen/cafeteria of a closed Nebraska School for the Deaf she bought in the 90s.
