Delaware follows Rhode Island by a week to become 11th state to legalize gay marriage

Delaware's Democratic Governor, Jack Markell, immediately signed the bill in front of about 200 enthusiastic supporters, who broke into applause and cheers when Markel said, “I do not intend to make any of you wait one moment longer.”
The signing followed by barely a half-hour the 12-9 Senate vote.
The new law won't give Delaware same-sex couples any more rights or benefits than they had under the state's civil unions law, but if the U.S. Supreme Court strikes down the Defense of Marriage Act it would provide hundreds of federal benefits that a civil union would not.

Although New Mexico is not included in the legend of this USA today map, it is correctly charted.
