Hazel Abel, after whom a residence hall at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln is named, was a construction heiress who donated a quarter-block park to the city after personally rounding up a fountain, gazebo, wrought-iron fence, lamps and other accoutrements which she had disassembled, shipped from France, and reassembled at 18th & E Streets. They only looked at the 100 largest cities, so the net wasn't cast as wide as you might think.
Not a single city in Iowa was named.
Nebraska placed twice; Omaha just made the cut, but its air quality was foulest on the list, worse than New York, L.A., Chicago, Philly or Atlanta.
Lincoln tied Tampa at 34, with the best air quality of the 50, ahead of runner-up Honolulu.
Interestingly, San Antonio beat Dallas because of both a better economy and lower crime.
Unsurprisingly, Madison, WI, one of the most attractive cities AKSARBENT has ever seen (even in Winter) placed high on the list at 17th.
