Dick Cavett just made us giddy

We were reading his characteristically witty and widely-read 2008 excoriation of Sarah Palin's ongoing assault of English, when we encountered a Teacher, Teach Thyself passage:

Has there been a poll to see if the Sarah-ites are numbered among that baffling 26 percent of our population who, despite everything, still maintain that President George has done a heckuva job?

Aha! Live by the double-edged sword of linguistic superiority, die by it: the phrase "still maintain" is enough to make E.B. White turn in his grave and our old UNL journalism professor to haul out his sharpest blue pencil in order to smite the redundancy.
     (Unless, of course Cavett meant "nevertheless," instead of "yet.")
