Left out: Actually the Methodists only lost about $20,000 of the $500,000 in tax exemptions for their extensive boardwalk properties. And it wasn't because of gay marriage, which wasn't legal in New Jersey, it was because of the state's public accommodations law. And some of the "religious services" conducted in the pavilion were marriages for straights.In New Jersey, the state cancelled the tax-exempt status of a Methodist-run boardwalk pavilion used for religious services because the religious organization would not host a same-sex “wedding” there.
