O'Reilly meets Wisconsin community organizer; takes umbrage with umbrella; thrusts rather than parries

Last night in Washington, D.C. a Wisconsin community organizer spotted Bill O'Reilly walking out of a hotel in which a New Gingrich fundraiser was held, and asked the Fox News host if he had attended the fundraiser. (Apparently he didn't; he was just staying at the hotel.) O'Reilly then jabbed him with his umbrella, and then evidently tried to have a cop arrest Branden Lane, the man he had just assaulted.

According to the D.C. Code. Ann. § 5-117.05, a false or fictitious report regarding commission of crime made knowingly is punishable by a fine “not exceeding $300 or by imprisonment not exceeding 30 days.” In Lane's Wisconsin home, filing a false police report is a Class H felony, punishable by up to six years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

O'Reilly walked away with his newly bent (by the wind) umbrella. Obviously, in respect of ambush "journalism" O'Reilly can dish it out, via his producer, but can't take it.

Ryan Reilly, of Talking Points Memo, interviewed Lane about the incident here.
