Dan Savage, Andy Towle and Joe Jervis raise $9,000+ in about 2 hours to help bury boy bullied to death by homophobic Tennessean high school students

Cheatham County Central High School, Ashland City, TN
Friends of Jacob Rogers, who attended Cheatham County Central High School, say he was bullied for the last four years, but recently the torment had become so bad that he quit school. On Wednesday, the boy, who may not have been gay, killed himself, leaving behind a couple notes with passwords to his email and phone so investigators would know why he did it. Jacob lived with his grandmother who primarily took care of him.
Because friends of Jacob's family say it likely doesn't have enough money to hold a funeral, Dan Savage of The Slog, Andy Towle of Towleroad, and Joe Jervis of JoeMyGod hit up their readers (and evidently contributed themselves), coming up with $9,000+ in a couple hours.
