Minutes ago at a Tea Party of America rally, she ignored the fact that S&P 500 companies are sitting on $1.13 trillion in cash and short-term investments (two-thirds more than they had heading into the recession in 2007, according to Capital IQ) and still are not hiring.
Her solution: a proposal to exempt U.S. companies from all corporate income tax (but course she would cut loopholes, whatever that means.)
This complete capitulation to corporatism was, astonishingly, preceded by a prolonged attack on "crony capitalism" and Washington's "permanent political class."
Once again, Palin proved herself to be both funnier and more bizarre than the warm-up comedian, in this case Eric Golub.
There was backstage drama, too, chronicled by Jennifer Jacobs of the Des Moines Register.
The Tea Party of America, founded by two Iowans, invited Christine O’Donnell, then uninvited her yesterday after getting hammered with emails criticizing her. Later yesterday, they reinvited her, citing her grace in dealing with being uninvited. Then Palin’s staff called this morning.
