GLAAD 2011 Advertising Awards announced

GLAAD has announced its 2011 Amplifier Awards, which:
...elevate and promote images in advertising that include fair and accurate representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community and the issues that affect their lives. The GLAAD Amplifier Awards also fund GLAAD's work to amplify stories of LGBT people and issues that build support for equality.
As you might expect, Google Chrome's "The Web is What You Make of It: It Gets Better Project" won Outstanding TV Campaign – Mainstream Market.

We at AKSARBENT got the biggest kick out of the Outstanding Print Campaign – Mainstream Market winner, Kaiser Permanente, for its "Stick Around. Things Get Interesting." print ad encouraging mammograms, as seen in National Geographic Magazine.

The elderly female model in the ad has an interesting backstory of her own, and is apparently the great aunt of a real life Texas gay couple

We also liked Allstate's ad, a winner for Outstanding Outdoor Campaign.

(Earth to Warren Buffet: your competitor, Allstate runs ads like this instead of hiring homophobic hitmaker Charlie Daniels, a GEICO spokesman.)
