Did Apple borrow SFPD plainclothes officers to frighten homeowner into house search by its security staff?

Some furious backpedaling by the San Francisco Police Department regarding the intimidation of a Bernal Heights homeowner and a search of his home by Apple's corporate "security" in search of another prototype iphone left in another bar.

First the SFPD denied that police were involved. Now Lt. Troy Dangerfield (future television private eye!) says "My understanding is that they stood outside. They just assisted Apple to the address."

You know — the way Boy Scouts assist helpless old blind people across the street.

AKSARBENT is truly inspired by the lieutenant's use of the word "understanding" and would like to make clear our "understanding" that Apple is a wealthy corporation which employs outlaw tactics to get its way and ruthlessly covers its tracks when the press gets too close.

But of course, this is only our "understanding." Like Lt. Dangerfield, we wish to make it clear that we are not necessarily responsible for anything we say.
