Evasive Shrek, New Zealand's wooliest, most beloved sheep, dies at 16
Shrek, a merino sheep who evaded shearers for six years until his fleece became so enormous that he couldn't, has died. The animal was shorn on New Zealand television in 2004 by which time the weight of his clipped wool reached almost 60 pounds.
The iconic Kiwi received an audience at the national parliament with Prime Minister Helen Clark, became a popular draw at charity appearances, and, perhaps due to his patiences with children as well as the elderly, was the subject of several children's books.
