Straight Iowa radio show host:
Only gays can call in today

UPDATE: The show has now been posted to WOW-FM's website available for on-demand listening here, but be forewarned, the stunt didn't result in a single gay call to Fallon's show.

Former Iowa Rep. Ed Fallon, who has a talk show called The Fallon Forum with about 25,000 listeners a week, has banned people involved in heterosexual relationships from calling his show today.

Fallon, who is straight, was apparently disgusted with the introduction of House Study Bill 50 by Rep. Richard Anderson (R-Clarinda), which was withdrawn today.

The bill stated that any goods or services that recognize marriage – including employment, housing, and education– could be denied to Iowans involved in a relationship that someone disagrees with because of their religious beliefs under the bill.

Said Fallon. “But I’m fed up with the theocrats who control the Iowa House cramming their religious agenda down my throat.”

“Last fall, Republicans campaigned on jobs and the economy,” Fallon said. “Now they’re pushing this narrow, divisive agenda that excludes more people than it includes. How does beating up on gays and lesbians help the economy? If anything, marriage equality has been a boon to our state.”

The Fallon Forum, airs Monday through Thursday, 7:00-8:00 p.m. on 98.3 WOW-FM and online at www.fallonforum.com.
