The Iowa City Press-Citizen and the Des Moines Register are reporting that a military jet flyover at Kinnick Stadium prior to the Iowa-Ohio State game on Nov. 20 is being investigated.
First Lt. Katie Roling, with the Vance Public Affairs office, confirmed a senior officer at Vance Air Force Base, which supplied the four T-38C jets for the flyover, is conducting an internal investigation.
UI spokesman Tom Moore said he was not aware of the investigation until news reports surfaced. Moore said the university did not have any concerns about the flyover and was pleased with the way it was handled.
When asked if the university had been contacted for the investigation, Moore said, “Why would we be contacted? It’s an internal investigation.”
Some fans at the game recall the flyover as being very low to the ground and very loud.
“How can you not remember? That was amazing,” said Jon Peters, 49, of Fremont, Ohio, who was in town for the game, in which Ohio State defeated Iowa 20-17.  “ I’ve seen many flyovers and that had to be lowest to the facility I’ve ever witnessed before,” he said.
