Karl Rove runs attack ads to scare Bob Kerrey away from NE senate race; former governor/senator/Navy Seal calls ads 'funny;' slyly implies overweight Rove should work out more

Kerry in NYC 10/22/11
Robynn Tysver of the Omaha World-Herald reports that Karl Rove has spent $30,000 on radio advertising to intimidate Bob Kerrey during his current Nebraska visit to sound out friends and acquaintances about running for the senate seat Democrat Ben Nelson is leaving.
Kerrey has lived in New York City for the last 11 years, much of that time as president of the New School, but retains partial ownership of family-owned restaurants and health clubs in Nebraska.
Kerrey's written response [link added] to Rove said, in part:
I heard your very funny radio ad and would like to invite you to come to Nebraska and have a burger with my family at one of my restaurants. Or better: let's work out at one of my health clubs. I am certain you'll be glad you did.
     Sincerely, Bob Kerrey
