GOP strategy: win state houses, leverage that to gerrymander US house districts to keep control as fewer people vote Republican

ProPublica has a lot of evidence of GOP (and some Democratic) gerrymandering. Here's a GOP memo bragging about the party's redistricting shennanigans and below is Tuesday's examination of the scourge by Rachel Maddow.
     Interestingly, the GOP is trying to convert more states from winner-take-all electoral voting to the Nebraska/Maine system which breaks off House district electors as reps of whomever won that district. This backfired on the Nebraska GOP in 2008 when Obama peeled off Omaha from a state which hadn't given a Democratic presidential candidate a single vote since 1966. The Nebraska GOP has made noises about going back to Plan A.
