Marshall County, IA Deputy Demoris Dean was barked at by 16" family bulldog in yard, felt "danger," so he shot it — 6-8 feet away from owner's 3-year-old girl

The owner, Lisa Hurd, received an animal-at-large citation about a month ago when the dog, Penny, reportedly chased a jogger. She pleaded not guilty and was to appear in court Tuesday. English bulldogs are up to 16 inches high.
