Thurman was hit by an EF2 tornado (113-157 MPH) which followed a 10-mile path, touching down two miles north of Percival, IA, going through Thurman and lifting one mile south of Tabor. Norfolk, NE was pelted by a 20-minute deluge of hail.
Last night's storms raked the Midwest, especially Thurman, Iowa, home to about 200 weather-pummeled souls.
MSNBC reported the assessment of Randy Chapman, a deputy at the Fremont County Sheriff's Office: "I would estimate a fourth of the houses have been made unlivable."

Early last June, Thurman, with just over 200 people, became isolated when officials closed the entrance and exit ramps to Interstate 29 at exit 20 because of flooding along the Missouri River.
In 1952, the town was completely flooded.
