(David H. Koch donates large amounts of money to, and sits on the board of the Reason Foundation.)
Peter Schiff on capitalism: It's the most compassionate system I know — by definition!
Schiff said the following to a demonstrator who wondered why someone who made $100,000,000, couldn't use half to create jobs (Plutocrats smart enough to keep the rabble sufficiently well-fed that it doesn't storm the mansion gates might call this enlightened self-interest):
But what you're forgetting is that if I make $100,000,000, I had to create a lot of jobs to make that money...
Really Mr. Schiff? Like when a private equity group makes $100,000,000 orchestrating a leveraged buyout of a company — thereby loading it with debt, then firing thousands of workers to make the debt-laden firm more financially attractive, then curtailing research and development and corporate infrastructure investment, and finally parting out the skeletal corporate carcass in sales to other private equity firms or corporations?
Not that this ever happened repeatedly in the 80s or 90s.
The Omaha World-Herald runs editorials written by the Reason Foundation and disseminated to newspapers. AKSARBENT thinks the Herald would be more honest with its readers if it just made the Koch Bros. take out an damned ad.
