Underdog Yvonne, the famous German runaway
cow, is still on the lam after three months

Yvonne
After breaking through an electric fence on May 24, the Bavarian bovine has evaded telescopic sights, helicopter-mounted thermographic cameras, animal psychics, and tricks like playing the sounds of her son Friesi over loudspeakers or pasturing her sister near the woods in which she is believed to be hiding.

There's a price on her head, 10,000 Euros, because Muehldorf authorities declared her a public danger to be shot on sight after the 1,500 pound animal almost slammed into (or got slammed by) a cop car shortly after her escape. But the order was revoked in the face of her burgeoning popularity; now she can only be shot with tranquilizers and the animal sanctuary which bought her has promised that she will never see the inside of a slaughterhouse.

Yvonne is now believed to be hiding in a herd of deer.

  1. A bovine freedom fighter! (Look up "cows with guns" on YouTube. In spite of the songwriter's insisting that cows can also be male, it's relevant.)
