Chicago Boystown beating/stabbing on YouTube prompts CAP meeting

On Wednesday a Community Alternative Policing meeting in Chicago's North Side "Boystown" neighborhood was packed by 500 people concerned about increasing violence after a video of a man being beaten and stabbed was posted on YouTube earlier this week.

Members of Gender JUST, an LGBT-and-allies organization composed largely of people of color demonstrated outside the auditorium, claiming residents are unfairly blaming the incidents on minorities who visit from other neighborhoods

The beating/stabbing was the third reported attack in the neighborhood in as many weeks. Chicago's NBC affiliate quoted resident Kevin O'Brien, who articulated collective anger at the perceived increase in crime:
"Commander and alderman, please stop trying to insist that Boystown is a safe neighborhood. The media is listening now and the attacks speak loud and clear: Boystown is a danger zone," resident Kevin O'Brien said, eliciting applause.
