Peekskill, New York: home of Mel Gibson, Stanley Tucci, Paul Reubens and now, the Yellow Brick Road

Peekskill, NY, birthplace of Johnny-come-lately Australian Mel Gibson (as well as Paul Reubens and Stanley Tucci), is also, if you believe historian John Curran, the home of the Yellow Brick Road, of which the only remaining exposed section is a parking lot.

At one time the road of Dutch Pavers led directly to the Peekskill Military Institute, which L. Frank Baum, author of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, attended for two years, during which he must have walked the road many times, hence Curran's supposition that it was the inspiration for the road leading to Oz.
