Minn. Democrat introduces amendment to end Pentagon's $100,000,000 NASCAR sponsorship; gets death threat

The Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports that Rep. Betty McCollum, D-Minnesota, is offering an amendment to the 2011 House budget bill to ban the sponsorships, which her office said has cost the military $100 million over the past 10 years, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

The death threat, faxed yesterday, was full of expletives and specifically addressed the military’s support of racing teams. “Death to all Marxists” was written in bold at the bottom of the fax, which also featured a drawing of President Obama’s head being towed by a noose tied to a pickup truck.

Aksarbent finds it totally believable that a move to get government out of sponsoring a private enterprise would be referred to as "Marxist" by a NASCAR fan, even though we know several cool and funny gearheads.
