Tonight: Iowa House hearing on HJR 6 to ban legal recognition of same-sex couples

With the right PC and software you may be able to listen to the Iowa General Assembly hearing live tonight. (Aksarbent can hear Iowa General Assembly audio streams with windows/internet explorer but not windows/firefox,) Go here to check. Aksarbent is arranging to dispatch someone from Omaha to get photos and possibly video from Des Moines.

Oneiowa has this advice:
Please join us at 5 p.m. Monday, Jan. 31, in the Iowa State Capitol House Chambers for a public hearing on House Joint Resolution 6 (H.J.R. 6), a resolution that would not only overturn the Varnum decision, but would slam the door on civil unions, domestic partnerships, and any other legal recognition of same-sex couples.
The hearing starts at 6:30 p.m., but we are asking supporters to get to the Capitol early to make sure we get seats in the Chamber gallery. This will be an extremely well-attended meeting on both sides, and we want to make sure we get as many seats as possible.
Wear blue, come early, and pack the House with supporters of equality!
