Lewis Lazare, who writes the Media Mix column for the Chicago Sun-Times, notes that Chicago must be marketing the hell out of itself to LBGT travelers (well, it did snag the Stanley Cup for an appearance in last summer's gay day parade, didn't it?).
San Francisco-based Community Marketing Inc.'s annual ranking of the most popular gay and lesbian vacation destinations rated Chicago a tie with Los Angeles and Las Vegas for third, behind New York City (first) and San Francisco.
Chicago especially attracts younger gay men. It was fourth among that group 18 to 35, and fifth among men 36 to 54. The survey was based on the question: "Where did you travel in the past twelve months and spend at least one night in a hotel," asked of 4,800 respondents.
