The Ionia Institute sued Irish state television for airing a broadcast in which gay drag performer Panti Bliss called it a collection of homophobes. The legal action garnered Ionia 85 thousand euros in an out-of-court settlement, which in turn engendered criticism of the TV network for capitulating to the Catholic-led and staffed anti-gay marriage pressure group rather than fighting it in court.
