Sean Harris, Fayetteville, NC 'beat your gay kid' preacher, also thinks US gays destroyed NC textile industry; Oh, sure, blame America

UPDATE: Pastor Harris issues a retraction, sort of. And Leonard Pitts, cited by Harris, has a few words about preacher like him, and they ain't pretty.

Jeremy Hooper's post about Baptist Powerpoint Preacher Sean Harris' Vote For Amendment One rant at his Fayetteville, NC Berean Baptist Church has been widely circulated, mainly because Liberty University graduate Harris said:
Can I make it any clearer? Dads, the second you see your son dropping the limp wrist, you walk over there and crack that wrist. Man up! Give him a good punch! OK?

(Earlier Harris said "I tell my son all the time 'The only reason you're still alive is because your mom's here.' " Hmmm.)

But Pastor Harris, who likes to eat at Cracker Barrel, has lots of other opinions, too!

On being barefoot and pregnant:
You're supposed to get married and you're supposed to get pregnant.
On the environment:
The problem with the evangelical church and the fundamentalist church is that it's been more influenced by environmentalists than by God.
On the economy in general:
That's why you're paying more for gas than you should. Because our currency is being devalued as the federal government prints more money. That's why you should care about this. Because you don't want dudes and dudes raising children.
On Islam:
America needs children. America needs lots and lots of children. The world will probably never run out of children as long as there's Muslims on the planet because they are having children at an incredible rate... The Muslims will take over us as we plummet into a third-world country. [Heads up Haiti!]
Oh sure, like US gays destroyed
North Carolina's textile industry
all by themselves, with no help
whatsoever from their Chinese
friends in the International
Homosexual Conspiracy.
Whatevs.
And finally, on how US gays have/are destroying North Carolina's textile industry:
Pull your head out of the sand and wake up!  What are you talking about pastor? According to the 2010 Census data, more people in the age 65 and above are living in homes than 18 and below. Now while we thank god that people are living longer, please understand that what we need for the economic survival of this nation is an increasing workforce... The reason the clothes you wear, the phone that you talk on, and nearly everything else that you consume is purchased overseas is because the American workforce is shrinking and shrinking and shrinking. Whereas, in other countries like the Phillilpines, Malaysia, China and all over the world, their population is increasing and increasing and increasing. [Yeah, the one-child policy in China has really made the population there explode.] They have a greater workforce. As our workforce shrinks, we all insist on making more wages as a worker. As their workforce increases, they are all willing to work for less [actually wages in China are increasing] and do jobs that we are not willing to do. So, please listen, so 50 years ago, and 75 years ago, when the shirts that you would wear was made in a textile factory in the state of North Carolina. You can't find textile factories in the state of North Carolina anymore, because those jobs have been shipped overseas because the workforce has gotten smaller and smaller and smaller, and the reason the workforce has gotten smaller and smaller and smaller is less people are getting married and having children. If you disagree with me, send me an email and I'll show you how wrong you are. ...Should two dudes shacking up, who will never, ever, ever produce a child, should they get the same tax advantage that a husband and wife living together who have the propensity of producing children?
At about the 27:15 mark in his video, Harris invoked Miami Herald columnist Leonard Pitts to make a point. AKSARBENT is sure that Pitts, who has a gay brother and supports gay rights, must be real happy about that.

What Preacher Harris concealed from his congregation during his homophobic rant was that Amendment One not only outlaws gay marriage, it also forbids civil unions, domestic partnerships, and strips unmarried women in North Carolina of protection against domestic abuse.
