KMTV: Abysmally low voter turnout in North Omaha frustates black leaders

In last month's primary, only 4,316 of 36,364 registered voters (12%) in councilman Ben Gray's North Omaha district (purple on the map) went to the polls. In South Omaha's district 4 (blue on the map), the tally was hardly better: 4,823 of 29,499 registered voters showed up to cast ballots.
Community leaders are disappointed and trying to combat an apathy which disproportionately cedes control of government to the rest of Omaha.
     KMTV's report is here.
