Ex-NU center Dominic Raiola taunts WI band with gay and obscenely sexist slurs; will make 'significant donation' to band; Detroit Lions won't discipline him

Before Last Sunday's 22-9 loss to Green Bay, Detroit Lions center Dominic Raiola went off on the University of Wisconsin Marching Band on Lambeau Field.
John Breech wrote Monday that, according to several Wisconsin band members, Raiola called them "fat mother[expletive]" and told them they "suck." Raiola is also accused of using a derogatory word to refer to a female member of the band... Things got so bad that Lions safety Louis Delmas allegedly apologized for Raiola's behavior."
Raiola, who is at least stout, allegedly said to a tuba player: "Hey fat guy — you want a hot dog?"
Raiola promised a big donation to The Marching Band Fund in a phone call to University of Wisconsin band director Michael Leckrone on Tuesday.
Detroit Lions president Tom Lewand has confirmed that the Lions will not discipline Raiola and has released a boilerplate apology from him:
My interaction with the Wisconsin Marching Band was inappropriate I apologize to those I offended along with all of the members of Wisconsin's Marching Band. I also apologize to the Lions' organization and my teammates. I understand the standards to which we should conduct ourselves, and my actions Sunday fell dramatically short of those standards.
Raiola attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, where he played as an offensive lineman, and then as a center for the Cornhuskers from 1998 to 2000.
He was fined $7,500 in 2008 for flipping off Ford Field fans and in 2010 he was docked $15,000 after a verbal altercation with a fan in Miami.

On his Facebook page, U. of Wisconsin junior trumpet player Zachary York wrote:
Dominic Raiola is literally the worst person I have ever had the fortune to encounter. After marching down the field awaiting the national anthem, He went off on a verbal tirade, among other things, questioning my sexuality (as a band member) and then continued on to bring my sister and my recently deceased mother into the conversation. After I refused to give him the satisfaction of turning to look at him, he switched targets to a trombone ranting at him calling him overweight and saying he can't play a real sport. After our halftime show, the same fine gentleman called a female member of the band the "c" word.
