How people amused themselves before the Internet

When Bruce Springsteen's guitarist, "Little" Steve Van Zandt inducted the (Young) Rascals into the Rock and Roll hall of fame, he pugnaciously claimed they were the first rock and roll band. We're more than willing to overlook Van Zandt's New Jersey bias.

Below, the best performance of the Supremes AKSARBENT has ever seen, with great camera angles and direction to boot. This was before MTV, but the Supremes didn't need no stinkin' MTV — not when Ed Sullivan was showcasing them every other week before a Sunday night audience of about 50 million. Here he didn't even bother to say "The Supremes," referring to them simply as "The Girls."
     "Shooka Tooka" indeed!
