Gay marriage:
the more things change, the more they stay the same

Here, courtesy of Chicago's Museum of Broadcast History via David Mixner are Jack Baker and Mike McConnell of Minnesota, the first two males in the U.S. to be issued a marriage license (in Minnesota, which subsequently refused to recognize, but did not revoke said license), laying out all the arguments still being made, almost verbatim, four decades later.
