Lincoln, NE lesbian says she was victim of home invasion by 3 masked men who carved epithets on her and tried to burn down her house

The Omaha World-Herald said the alleged arson attempt resulted in $200 of damage. The Lincoln Journal-Star said:
City fire Inspector Damon Robbins said a match flame ignited vapors from a pool of gasoline on the woman's floor, but the flash fire did not continue to burn and caused no noticeable damage to the house.
A friend quoted a friend of the victim (who declined to be identified) as saying that she crawled naked and bleeding from her house, screaming for help before reaching a neighbor's doorstep.

The Omaha World-Herald reported that Erin Thompson of Lincoln, who said she was the victim's best friend, reported receiving a call at 6:30 Sunday morning asking Thompson to pick up the victim from Bryan LGH Medical Center West.
Thompson said three epithets, including the word “dyke,” were carved on the arms and stomach of the woman, who is in her 30s.
Captain Jim David declined to comment on any possible motives or to say whether the incident is being investigated as a hate crime. He would not identify the woman, who has asked to remain anonymous, though she is known in the gay community.
A facebook-organized vigil was held Sunday at the state capitol, drawing about 500 people according to the Omaha World-Herald and about 300 people according to the Lincoln Journal-Star. Attendees from gay organizations including Lincoln's OutLinc and Star City Pride as well as Omaha Pride read statements of support. All declined to identify the victim.

  1. anyone who could physically hurt another should have the same thing done to them. i think thats a fair punishment. once these three are unmasked, they themselves should be tagged with epithets that they so brutally scared the poor woman. if you can carve 'dyke' into another living being then you, yourself should wear the same scar. YOU STUPID HOMOPHOBIC F*CK!
